For over 23 years, Matthew has concentrated on the defense of maritime employers and insurance carriers. He is a 1997 graduate of the University of Texas School of Law. He received his bachelor’s degree cum laude in 1993 from Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas.
Licensed in Texas, he investigates and defends maritime claims across the country—state court, federal court, and before federal administrative law judges. He works with local counsel in liability cases outside of Texas when necessary. Representative accomplishments include:
Matthew is a member of the University of Texas Admiralty and Maritime Law Seminar Planning Committee, Maritime Law Association, and Houston Bar Association. Matthew participates in the Houston Bar Association’s Legal Line volunteer program.
He is married to Amy, and they have three children. When not practicing law, he can be found ranching in central Texas.
A paralegal for over 20 years, Rachel joined the firm in March 2017, and assists with research, drafting, trial preparation, and communicating with clients and unrepresented claimants. Rachel obtained her paralegal certificate from the University of Texas at El Paso in 2000 and recently completed the Longshore Comprehensive Seminar from the Longshore Institute. Rachel serves as the firm's senior paralegal.
Summer received her bachelor’s degree cum laude from the University of Texas at Pan American in south Texas. After a short stint in her career of choice, she moved into the legal field and obtained her paralegal certificate and credentials. Summer joined the firm in June 2018. She brings over 15 years of paralegal experience and also serves as our office manager.
